Odisha-born IAS succumbs to Covid-19

Sundargarh/New Delhi: Senior Kerala cadre IAS and Additional Secretary of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Edwin Kulbhushan Majhi passed away on Monday evening while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in New Delhi.

After being afflicted with Covid-19 disease, Majhi was under treatment at the hospital and breathed his last at 8:30 PM on May 17.

Majhi hailed from Chhatasargi village under Subdega block of Sundargarh district. He was the elder son of former Minister and Talasara MLA Late Ignesh Majhi.

Majhi, a 1989-batch Kerala cadre IAS, was on Central deputation recently. He was working as Additional Secretary of Food and Public Distribution Department.

He also served as Thiruvananthapuram District Collector in Kerala State, Principal Secretary of Revenue department of Kerala Government and Secretary of Agriculture department of Kerala Government.

After finishing his schooling from Bhabanishankar High School, Sundargarh in 1980, Majhi graduated from Sundargarh Government College in 1984.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed grief over the demise of Majhi.

The Food department of Government of India also held a condolence meeting today through video conference under Chairmanship of Secretary (Food), GoI.
