Odisha born senior sports journalist passes away

Bhubaneswar: Odisha born senior sports journalist Sidhanta Patnaik breathed his last in Bangalore, Friday night.

The 35-year-old sports writer was suffering from cancer in his lungs and brain after being diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in 2011.

Patnaik was an accomplished journalist who had covered six ICC men’s and women’s tournaments and wrote extensively for Wisden India, Wisden Almanac, Cricket Next, etc. He was a pioneering writer in the field of women’s cricket and had co-authored a book titled The Fire Burns Blue: A History of Women’s Cricket in India.

Born in Bhubaneswar, this writer and blogger is an alumnus of DAV Public School, Unit-VIII and has been living in Bangalore for most part of his adult life.

He is survived by his wife and a kid.
