Odisha: Boy dies by suicide after mother stops him from playing mobile game

Bhubaneswar: Pall of gloom descended on Indupur village under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar district today evening when news on a boy’s death broke out. The student reportedly died by suicide after his mother stopped him from playing a mobile game.

The deceased, Soumya Ranjan of the village was studying Class IX at Ghasipura Adrash Vidyalaya. Upon his return from school, Soumya Ranjan started playing FreeFire Game in a smartphone at home.

His mother admonished Soumya Ranjan for playing the mobile game and asked him to concentrate on the ongoing exam. She then took away the smartphone.

Irked by mother’s reprimand, Soumya Ranjan went to the terrace and hung himself from the ceiling with a ‘gamuchha’.

After few minutes, Soumya Ranjan’s family members went to the terrace and found him unconscious.

They took him to the Anandpur hospital where doctors declared him dead.
