Odisha boy ends life as father fails to buy mobile phone for online class

Balasore: A 14-year-old boy of class-VIII allegedly ended his life as his father failed to buy a mobile phone for him to attend online classes at Kalasimuli village under Baliapal block of Odisha’s Balasore district yesterday.

The deceased, who was a student of Kalasimuli Nodal School, had told his father to buy a smartphone for him as the device was necessary for online classes. His father had promised him to buy a mobile phone after paddy harvesting and subsequent income.

Shockingly, the minor boy was found hanging inside the house yesterday. It is being suspected that he took the extreme step of hanging himself when no one was present at the house.

On being informed, police reached the village and recovered the body for post-mortem. An unnatural death case has been registered in this connection.

A pall of gloom descended on the locality after the tragic incident.
