Balasore: As part of its drive against drug smuggling, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch seized brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore in Soro police station area of Balasore district today.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the STF from Bhubaneswar conducted a raid and later seized the contraband item weighing 1.1 kg in front of Hotel Leo International. The cops also arrested a youth named Babu on charges of drug peddling.

The accused, a resident of Kajimahala in Soro, is being interrogated in connection with the case, said the police.
