Odisha Budget ’19-20 pegged at Rs 1.39 lakh crore

Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari today presented the Odisha Budget in the State Assembly for the year 2019-20, which has been pegged at Rs 1.39 lakh crore.

While the administrative expenditure stands at Rs 57,310 crore, Rs 70,600 crore has been allocated for Programme Expenditure.

Highest allocation of Rs 20,714 crore has been made for Agriculture and allied sectors, followed by Rs 18,419 crore for Panchayati Raj Department and Rs 16,400 crore for School & Mass Education Department.

Here are budgetary allocations for some other important departments which got major share:

* ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare– Rs 3622.84 crore.

* Health and Family Welfare– Rs 6782.85 crore.

* Housing and Urban Development– Rs 5578.70 crore.

* Water Resources– Rs 9713.43 crore.

* Rural Development– Rs 5530.09 crore.

* Women & Child Development and Mission Shakti– Rs 3457.28 crore.

* Higher Education– Rs 2375.34 crore.

* Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability– Rs 3166.62 crore.

* Disaster Management– Rs 4706.58 crore.

 

Presenting the Agriculture Budget for the year 2019-20, the Finance Minister said Rs 5611 crore has been allocated under the KALIA scheme.

Similarly, Rs 100 crore has been earmarked for Gangadhar Meher Lift Canal System, Rs 1777 crore for Parbati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme and Rs 146 crore for Nabakrushna Choudhury Secha Unayana Yojana, Pujari said.

The State Government has announced interest-free crop loan upto Rs 1 lakh and Rs 800 crore has been earmarked for the purpose, he said.

 

Other highlights of the budget are:

* Corpus of Rs 500 crore to facilitate timely payment of wages under MGNREGA.

* Rs 301 crore under Mukhyamantri Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojana for financial assistance to women SHGs and their federations under Mission Shakti. Rs 130 crore has also been allocated for construction of Mission Shakti Gruha at Grama Panchayat-level.

* Rs 100 crore under JAGA Mission.

* Rs 4820 crore for pucca houses for cyclone FANI-affected 5 lakh households.

* Rs 1203 under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana for free medical facilities.

* Rs 237 crore for development of industries sector infrastructure and attracting investment.

* Over Rs 5,000 crore for piped drinking water supply.

* Rs 17,809 crore for infrastructure sector including Rs 350 crore under SCRIPS that aims to provide 24×7 power supply.
