Odisha bus driver saves passengers after snatching pistol from looters

Nayagarh: A dabang bus driver showed bravery by snatching a pistol from the looters to save the passengers here in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.

The incident was reported in Beruanbadi under Odagaon police limits in Nayagarh district when the private bus ‘Ambika’ carrying passengers from Bhubaneswar was moving to Kadua in Ganjam.

The entire incident took place in a film style.

According to reports, the bus driver showed his courage after two miscreants on a bike stopped the bus showing a country made pistol in a bid to loot the bus. Applying his presence of mind, the driver jumped off the bus aiming at the pistol and snatched the weapon from one of the looters who was holding it.

He had fight with the miscreants and overpowered them. In the meantime, some passengers had alighted from the bus to foil the loot bid and captured them. The looters finally fled the spot leaving their bike after they found themselves in big trouble.

On receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the spot. They seized the pistol and bike from the site.

Police started probe to nab the looters, who are at large.

Sources said that the looters on the bike had tried to stop the bus at Bahadajhola chasing the vehicle. However, the driver did not stop there. Later, they stopped the vehicle at Beruanbadi showing the pistol targeting at the driver.

Till filing of the report, the investigation was in progress.
