Odisha: Businessman stabbed with broken beer bottle; dies

Jagatsinghpur: A 32-year-old youth was brutally killed by three unidentified miscreants at Banipata village under Kujanga police limits in Jagatsinghpur district last night.

The deceased identified as Ranjan, son of Ramesh Parida, was a businessman in Paradip.

Sources said when Ranjan was returning to his house at around 11.30 PM last night, three youths intercepted him near a Hanuman temple and an altercation ensued between them. In a fit of rage, the three youth stabbed Ranjan with a broken beer bottle and fled the spot.

Hearing his scream, locals reached the spot and rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttcak; however, Ranjan died midway near Tirtol.

Meanwhile, police have detained a person and are interrogating him in connection with the incident.
