Odisha Cabinet approves eight proposals

The Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today gave its approval to eight important proposals.

The Cabinet approved a proposal to extend exemption of Value Added Tax (VAT) on pulses till June 30. Notably, Goods and Services Tax (GST) is likely to come into effect from July 1, sources said.

Amendment to Start-Up Policy 2016 put forth by the MSME department was also approved by the Cabinet at today’s meeting. Henceforth, start-ups will get incentives on an individual basis.The amendment will encourage the MSME sector, sources revealed.

Sources said the Cabinet decided to provide 3.5-acre land free of cost for setting up of an IT park at Rourkela.

Further, the Cabinet gave its stamp of approval to a proposal to allocate five-acre land to OMFED at Barang to set-up a milk processing unit with daily production capacity of 5 lakh litres.

Besides, the Cabinet decided to provide premium free land to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI)

The Cabinet has also approved amendments to Auditor’s Service Rules and Odisha Forest Cadre Rules.

However, there was no official announcement on proposals approved by the Cabinet since the Odisha Assembly is in session.
