Odisha Cabinet approves proposal to amend Official Language Act

The Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a proposal to amend Odisha Official Language Act, 1954 and 13 other proposals.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to amend the Orissa Electricity Duty Act-1961.

Similarly, a proposal to amend the Odisha Gram Panchayat Act 1964 was approved by the Cabinet. According to the proposal reservation for the post of sarpanch will apply for one term instead of the current two terms.

Besides, the Cabinet gave its approval to the Kalinga Sikshya Sathi Yojana. Under the scheme children of parents whose annual income does not exceed Rs 6 lakh will be provided with education loans for higher education at one percent interest rate.

Further, the Cabinet approved proposals to establish Odisha Mineral Exploration Corporation, provision of minerals to industries through Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and amendment to Odisha Prosecution Service Rules among others.
