Odisha Cabinet likely to approve new state women’s policy today

Bhubaneswar, July 16:

The Odisha Cabinet, which will meet this afternoon, is likely to approve a new state government policy for women.

Under the new policy, the stamp duty on purchase of land or house will be less than normal if the owner is a woman.

The women’s SHG groups will also  pay lesser amounts while taking government land on lease.

Moreover, landless women will be provided with free government land of 4 decimals under the policy, sources said.

The new policy will also entitle women to avail of various benefits from the government.

The cabinet is also likely to give its approval to Justice A S Naidu Commission report on the Khordha liquor tragedy.

The cabinet is likely to discuss 15 proposals in all today, the sources added.

The Naveen Patnaik government had announced the state youth policy last year, months before the general elections.
