Odisha Cabinet okays piped water supply in Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, Balasore under Jal Jeevan Mission

Bhubaneswar: A meeting of the Odisha Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today took as many as 16 major decisions including approval of piped water supply in Dhenkanal, Kendrapara and Balasore districts under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

By execution of the projects, around 322204 people of four blocks in Dhenkanal, 435190 people of three blocks in Kendrapara and 262093 people of three blocks in Balasore will be benefited with safe drinking water.

The work has been targeted for completion within a period of 24 months.

The decisions taken by the State Cabinet were related to the departments of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Planning & Convergence, Revenue & Disaster Management, Steel & Mines and Water Resources.

Other decisions include approval of special program for promotion of millets in tribal areas; financial bid for Khalpal in-stream storage structures across river Brahmani; community harnessing and harvesting of rainwater; cyclone resilient saline embankment projects, and construction of barrage cum bridge across river Koel.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal for creation of additional posts in Odisha Revenue Service Group-B cadre.
