Bhubaneswar: With a day left for the counting of votes in Elections 2024, Odisha Cabinet today recommended Governor for dissolution of State Legislative Assembly.

Chairing the cabinet meeting in virtual mode, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik decided to inform the Governor about the completion of the BJD Government's tenure and recommend for dissolution of the Odisha Legislative Assembly ahead of vote counting.

After the results to be announced by the Election Commissioner, the winning party will approach the Governor to form the government in the state.

The state went to polls for 147 assembly seats in 4 phases starting from May 13 till June 1.

As per the exit poll prediction by the India Today-Axis My India, there will be a neck-and-neck fight between the ruling BJD and Opposition BJP in the 2024 Assembly polls in Odisha. The survey predicted that BJD may win 62-80 Assembly seats, BJP 62-80, and Congress 5-8 seats this time.

Another exit poll survey by the Jan Ki Baat has predicted 81 Assembly seats for BJD while the BJP may get 58 and the Congress party 8 seats.
