Odisha Cabinet to meet tomorrow: 11 proposals on agenda

The Odisha Cabinet will be meeting tomorrow to approve a slew of important proposals.

The state Cabinet is likely to give its stamp of approval to 11 proposals, highly places sources said.

A proposal to amend the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) Act is likely to come up before the Cabinet, to be presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, here tomorrow.

The proposed amendment will enhance the government’s powers in the university. According to the move, the university would have a new post of pro-chancellor to be occupied ex-officio by the minister of the concerned department. The term of office of the vice chancellor would be reduced from the existing five years to three years.

Similarly, the Cabinet is likely to approve Odisha Public Distribution System order. Also the proposal for ‘Ama Jungle Yojana’ of the Forest and Environment department is likely to come up for approval.

Proposal for leasing out of land for setting up of BSNL mobile towers in Malkangiri district is also in the agenda, revealed sources.

Most important of all the Cabinet is likely to take up key decisions on the constitution of Food and Law commissions.

While setting up of Food Commission being mandatory under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the proposal for setting up of Law Commission will come up for the first time.
