Odisha capital boils at 41.2 deg C, hottest in State

Bhubaneswar: After a brief respite from the scorching summer, Odisha capital once again turned into the hottest place in the State today recording the highest temperature of 41.2 degree Celsius.

Wetsern Odisha town Balangir was the second hottest place which recorded temperature of 41 degree Celsisu.

As many as 10 places in the State recorded temperature above 40 deg C, a Met office release said.

Hirakud, Talcher and Jharsugada recorded maximum temperature of 40.6 deg C each while Chandbali, Angul and Malkangiri witnessed 40.4, 40.3 and 40.2 degree Celsisu respectively.

Cuttack and Sambalpur sizzled at 40 and 38.5 deg C respectively.

Unrelenting heat wave continued in interior parts of the State affecting normal lives for the last few days. Roads and busy market places in this region wore deserted look during the day.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office here sounded lightning and thunderstorm warning for as many as three districts.

Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur in Puri, Gajapati and Ganjam till 7.45 pm today, a bulletin of the meteorological centre said.
