Bhubaneswar: In yet another achievement for Odisha's capital city Bhubaneswar, the numero uno smart city of the nation, it has been placed among the Top 50 Smart City Governments in the world.
Singapore-based Eden Strategy Institute has unveiled the rankings of the Top 50 Smart City Governments globally, from a study conducted in partnership with OXD (ONG&ONG Experience Design).
Bhubaneswar has been ranked 32nd in the list along with Ahmedabad. Among other Indian cities, New Delhi is at 23rd spot, Surat at 27th rank, Jaipur at 34th place and Pune at 36th spot.
The ranking has been topped by London, followed by Singapore and Seoul at 2nd and 3rd spot, respectively.
The ranking investigates the roles that city governments play in leading a smart city strategy, beyond celebrating the technological attainments of the cities themselves. The cities have been ranked across ten vectors: 1) Clarity of Vision; 2) Leadership; 3) Budget; 4) Provision of financial incentives; 5) Support programmes; 6) Talent-Readiness; 7) People-centric approach; 8) Development of an Innovation Ecosystem; 9) Implementation of "Smart" Policies; and 10) Track Record of previous initiatives and projects.
Finally, interviews were conducted with city officials to validate facts, measure outcomes, and learn about the unique challenges and pathways taken by each city.
