Odisha: Capital Hospital restricts conducting MRI and CT scans sans valid prescription

Bhubaneswar: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans of patients coming to Capital Hospital here will not be done sans a valid prescription, said Deputy Director of the government-run health facility Dr Dhananjaya Das today.

“We have taken a strong stance in this regard. Accordingly, proper verification of prescriptions will be carried out before conducting the tests free of cost. Allegedly, some middlemen have been making use of fabricated prescriptions and are trying to avail the benefit,” the deputy director asserted.

Even to the extent, some middlemen are using prescriptions of private doctors to get the tests done and are in turn taking money from the patients, the deputy director expressed.

“We took this step to prevent middlemen from exploiting patients,” Dr Das added.
