Odisha capital jewellery shop loot: Cash seized, 2 accused held

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police arrested two persons yesterday, with regard to the jewellery loot case from a market complex, here.

The accused has been identified as 33-year-old Naglur Nani of Paklapali village and 35-year-old Tarini Acharya of Munisahi of Aska. Nani belongs to Eragola gang of Aska and was assisted by Acharya during the loot.

Both confessed to the crime during the interrogation and led the police officials to Aska where cash worth Rs. 4 lakh, a motorbike and the bag that contained the jewellery was seized.

Worth mentioning, a bag containing jewellery weighing 1 kg and Rs. 3.5 lakh was looted from one Laxmidhar Subudhi at Indradhanu Market in Nayapalli area of Odisha capital on the night of Mar 28.

The bag was picked up by the miscreants, when the owner had gone inside the shop for some purpose and fled the spot. The act was caught on CCTV camera.

Further probe into the case is underway and the culprits have been forwarded to court today.
