Bhubaneswar: The civic authorities in Odisha capital here are all set to hold the first Patha Utsav (street festival) of this year tomorrow (Sunday).

The street festival will be held on a stretch between Sikharchandi Square and Infocity Square on January 7, said a release issued by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

The festival is scheduled to commence at 7 am in the morning, said an official.

Singers Satyajeet Pradhan and Pragyan Hota, and artistes of Sizzelrs Dance Troupe will perform at the street festival. Similarly, cultural troupes will also perform Odissi and Sambalpuri dance at the event, said the BMC.

Besides, events like beatboxing, comedy show, yoga, zumba, archery, basketball competition, badminton competition, slide, snakes & ladders game, cycling, Rangoli competition, dress ramp show, skating and clay modeling will be organised at the festival, it added.

The BMC had earlier announced that it would organize Patha Utsav in three zones of the city on three Sundays in December last year and January this year.

The civic body had organised the street festival on a stretch of the Janpath between Ram Mandir Square and Master Canteen Square on December 24 last year.

Notably, the BMC had introduced Patha Utsav in the city here in 2016 to make people aware of various social and civic issues.

However, the street festival was discontinued due to Covid-19 pandemic and some other reasons. The civic authorities organized the street festival for a few times during the Men’s Hockey World Cup in Odisha in January, 2023.
