Odisha capital to have Common Payment Card System in March

Bhubaneswar: The Common Payment Card System (CPCS), which will enable the denizens with payment options on digital mode for services in the state capital, will be launched in March this year.

This was decided at a review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi yesterday.

The new cashless system intends to provide a safe digital mode of cash transactions to the citizens for payment of fees, taxes, utility bills, transit charges, parking and other services charges.

The ICICI bank, which has won the tender for CPCS in the city, has been asked to complete the project as soon as possible.

The government is also planning to bring smart city feeling making bigger changes in the infrastructure and traffic system ahead of Hockey World Cup scheduled in November in Bhubaneswar.

Many projects including Public Bicycle Sharing and designs will be completed by the deadline.

Besides, the blueprint of projects including underground parking system, underground cabling, smart park, Bhubaneswar Urban Knowledge Centre, BMC headquarters, housing project under Abaas Mission in Chandrasekharpur, Gadakan, Satya Nagar and Shanti Nagar, waste management plant, e-rickshaw, e-waste management and sensory park will be finalized soon before international hockey event in the city.
