Odisha capital to host another Literature Festival in Jan

Bhubaneswar: Good news for literature lovers of Odisha capital as a city-based organisation is coming up with a two-day literature festival beginning from January 13.

The festival will be organised by a city-based ‘Vagdevi Literature Trust’ for the first time and nearly 100 prominent literary figures from different parts of the country will attend programme to discuss a host of issues related to literature.

There will be three poetry reading sessions including a multi-lingual poetry session. One poetry session will be dedicated to women poets.

The inaugural day of the festival will witness discussions on three topics like ‘Women through ages’, ‘Tribal folklores and legends’ and ‘Translation: Opportunities and challenges’. On the second day, panel discussions will be held on ‘Me and my story’, ‘Childhood and literature’ and ‘Literature in the age of globalization’.

Designed and planned by Dr. Mamata Tripathy, who is also festival director, said reputed authors Sitakant Mahapatra, Pratibha Ray, Niranjan Padhi, Pramita Satpathy Tripathy Deepak Kanungo among others will join with us.

“Live painting on tribal art, Pattachitra, Photographic exhibition on feminism, thematic play on feminism and an evening of melodious Hindustani Classical music are the added attractions for the function where sumptuous Odia cuisine will tickle the taste buds,” said Tripathy.

She further said the festival will honour one scholar with ‘Vagdevi Literature Award’ and a young talent as ‘Vagdevi Srijani Award’.
