Odisha CB turns lens on gangster Tito’s brothers

Cuttack: After gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito’s wife, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch has now turned its attention on his brothers and other relatives, who helped the notorious criminal to run his well-knit crime syndicate.

Sources in the Crime Branch said the STF will soon interrogate Tito’s two brothers – – Syed Imran Ali alias Sapho and Sk Jibabu – – for their role behind Tito’s rise as criminal and amassing properties woth several crores through illegal way.

Both brothers of the dreaded gangster are known history-sheeters having more than 20 cases of murder, attempt to murder and extortion against them at various police stations in the State.
The STF is also investigating Tito’s political connections as the gangster had managed to get two petrol pumps in his wife’s name besides running other business establishments.

The STF team, including a DSP and two lady inspectors, quizzed Tito’s wife Benajir Bibi yesterday in Kendrapara reportedly owning most of the assets of the gangster. Sources said Benajir, who is a housewife, owns a few petrol pumps, BIPL company, an Audi car and huge cash deposits in banks.

On Friday, the court allowed the Crime Branch to take Tito on a three-day remand.

Earlier, the Crime Branch had produced Tito in the Kendrapara SDJM court and sought 10-day remand for interrogating him. However, the court granted four more days July 9. The STF had taken him on five-day remand June 4.

The STF had arrested Tito, 56, following an encounter in Jajpur district on June 30.
