Odisha celebrates Ram Navami with religious fervour

Bhubaneswar: Festive spirit gripped Odisha as people of the State observed Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Ram, today with much fervour.

Thousands of devotees made a beeline to several temples all over the state to have darshan and offer prayers to Lord Ram. Rituals that began with Mangala Alati in the wee hours today are being followed by Sringar Alati, Ramcharitra Manas, Nabanna Parayana Purnahuti and Homa Yagyna.

The Capital city wore a festive look with devotees thronging the famous Ram Mandir in large numbers to offer prayers. Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the Commissionerate Police in and around the temple premises to ensure a hassle-free darshan for the devotees.

As per Hindu mythology, Ram is the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu and he was born on the ninth day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his wishes on the auspicious day.

“Warm greetings to all on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami. May Lord Shri Ram bless us with happiness, peace and prosperity,” Patnaik wrote on his Twitter handle.
