Odisha: Chandan Yatra of Lord Lingaraj cancelled for this year

Bhubaneswar: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown order, the Lingaraj Temple office here today decided to cancel the Chandan Yatra of Lord Lingaraj this year.

In a letter to the temple nijogs, the temple office said as per the Revenue and Disaster Management department, religious celebration cannot be observed and social distancing has to be maintained. It is impossible to organize Chandan Yatra with the help of five sevaks, the letter further said.

This apart, the Centre has announced Khordha district as a hotspot or red zone.

Keeping the larger interest in view, the Chandan Yatra scheduled to be held on April 26 has been cancelled for this year.

The letter said other rituals of the Lord Lingaraj will be carried out as usual.
