Odisha: CHC official arrested by Vigilance on bribery charges

Malkangiri: The Vigilance today arrested a Block Programme Manager working at a Community Healthcare Centre (CHC) in Odisha’s Malkangiri district for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe to pass a vehicle bill.

The Block Programme Manager of Padia CHC, Srimanta Atibodhi demanded Rs 20,000 from one Rakesh Chandra Das of Padia area to prepare and pass hire charges of the Bolero vehicle form April to August 2020. Following this, Das lodged a complaint with the Vigilance.

Accordingly, the Vigilance officials of Koraput division laid a trap. While the Block Programme Manger was accepting the bribe amount from Das at his office chamber at Padia CHC, the sleuths caught the official red handed.

A Vigilance official said the bribe amount has been recovered and seized from possession of the accused. His right hand wash and pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction, the sleuth added.

After registering a case, the Koraput Vigilance is investigating the matter.
