Odisha, Chhattisgarh to discuss Mahanadi water regulation on Aug 22

Bhubaneswar, Aug 13:

A high-level meeting between officials of the Water Resources departments of Odisha and Chhattisgarh would be held at Ashok Nivas at Burla in Sambalpur on August 22.

Official sources said that the meeting, among other things, would discuss the regulation of Mahanadi water.

It may be mentioned that while 90 percent of the catchment areas of Mahanadi lie in Chhattisgarh.

The Chhattisgarh government has constructed small dams and barrages in the upper catchments of Mahanadi.

After the devastating flood in Odisha in 2011, both the state governments had agreed to hold regular meeting to discuss the monitoring of floodwater before the onset of monsoon.
