Odisha, Chhattisgarh Police to work in tandem to tackle Maoist menace

Cuttack: In a coordination meeting held on virtual mode, the Odisha Police and the Chhattisgarh Police today decided to work jointly to ensure better synergy in tackling the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) and countering the menace of drug trafficking.

Odisha Police official sources said DGP Odisha along with Director Intelligence, ADGP CIC-CB, IGP (Operation), DIGP STF, DIGP SIW, SPs of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Nuapada districts attended the meeting.

On behalf of the Chhattisgarh Police, DGP Chhattisgarh along with ADGP (Operation), IGP (Intelligence) and IGs of Ranges and SPs of Sukma, Bastar, Gariabandh, Dhamtari, Mahasamund and other districts of the State were present in the coordination meeting.

ADG CRPF, IG CRPF and other CRPF officers also attended the meeting to discuss the LWE issues.

The two DGPs also decided to intensity co-operation between the Chhattisgarh Police and the Odisha Police.

As per the decisions taken in the meeting, ADGP (Operation), Chhattisgarh and IG (Operation) Odisha would be the Nodal Officers on LWE matters. In order to tackle the drug trafficking, DIGP STF, Odisha and DIGP CID-CB, Chhattisgarh dealing with NDPS matter will be Nodal Officers.

They also discussed other modalities for joint operations. The two DGPs also decided to meet again, added police official sources.
