Pradeep Sethy—one of the alleged key conspirators in the mega chit fund scam in the state—was today discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital and shifted back to Jharpada Special Jail in Odisha capital.

According to reports, the chairman-cum-managing director of Artha Tatwa Group of Companies was undergoing treatment at the Mental Health Institute of the government-run premier referral hospital since August 3 this year.

He was admitted to the hospital here two days after he attempted suicide inside the jail by slashing his wrist. He was being treated for mental trauma post his suicidal attempt. Though he had recuperated from it, he was shifted to Plastic Surgery department for a minor surgery, hospital sources said.

It is learnt that the hospital authorities decided in favour of discharging him no sooner a constable was suspended by Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi yesterday after he was caught lending his mobile phone to Sethy to talk to his relatives.
