Odisha chit fund scam: CBI raids senior Seashore official’s house

A 10-member CBI team raided the house of a senior official of Seashore Group of companies at Bali Sahi village of Niali block in Odisha’s Cuttack district this morning.

seashoregroupAccording to reports, the central investigating team, probing into multi-crore chit fund scam, raided the house of Pradip Samantary, Divisional Head of the Seashore Group, in connection with his involvement in criminal conspiracy and financial irregularities.

Sources said Samantary was in overall charge of the transport division of the Seashore Group. The CBI, in course of its investigation, had come to know that financial transaction over crores was made through Samantray during his stint of which a major amount was also given to some influential persons. Besides, several people had invested money in the Seashore Group through him.

Samantray was operating from the transport wing of the Seashore Group at Macheswar in Bhubaneswar.

During the raid, the CBI officials seized his bank accounts, land documents, money receipts and cash from his house.

When asked about the raids, Samantary said he cannot say anything as the CBI has told him not to reveal anything to the media.

Reliable sources said the CBI has decided to conduct raids on some plots and houses owned by Samantray in Bhubaneswar. Besides, it will also investigate into the huge investment made by him in various financial organisations.

The raid was continuing till the reports last came in.
