Odisha chit fund scam: ED grills Pyari for hours on Seashore link

Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) president Pyari Mohan Mohapatra was today grilled for nearly two and a half hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the mega chit fund scam in the state.

While confirming that Mohapatra had indeed been interrogated, an ED official refused to divulge what exactly he was questioned about.

But sources said he was quesioned about his links with the Seashore group, a major player in the chit fund scam. The agency had extracted some vital information on the OJM leader’s links with the Sseahore group durng the 14-day remand of group head Prashant Dash, the sources said.

Mohapatra however, refused to say anything about his interrogation. “Who told you I was interrogated?” an angry Mohapatra snapped when asked about it. When told that ED officials had confirmed he had been questioned, he said the officer needs to be ‘identified’.

“Why should I tell you anything? It is your (media’s) job to find out. If I have to say something, I would call a press conference,” he said.
