Odisha chit fund scam: HC grants conditional bail to Madhu Mohanty

In a huge relief to chit fund accused Madhu Mohanty, Orissa High Court today granted him conditional bail in connection with Artha Tatwa (AT) scam.

The court asked Mohanty to deposit Rs 1.90 crore at the bank in four installments and to submit his passport.

He was also asked to take permission from court for going outside State.

Madhu Mohanty, a businessman and proprietor of Odia daily ‘Odisha Bhaskar’, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged links with the chit fund firm AT Group.

He has been lodged in jail since the CBI arrested him on September 14, 2014 after several rounds of interrogation.

He had allegedly taken huge amount of money from AT Group chief Pradeep Kumar Sethy.
