Gajbhiye reached the office riding pillion on a bike at about 7 pm and was closeted with CBI officials for over two and a half hours.

Sections of the diaries of wheeler-dealer Subhankar Nayak leaked to the media yesterday mentioned Gajbihiye, who was the SP of Dhenkanal earlier. Nayak used to swing deals with the bureaucrats and police offiers on behalf of the Seashore group  of companies, the CBI has found.

Emerging out of the interrogation, Gajbhiye admitted knowing Nayak, but denied having received any money from him.

"He introduced himself as a journalist in 2008-2009. That is how I came to know him. In public life, one keeps meeting all kinds of people and he was one of the many people I knew. Bbut there was no special relationship between us" Gajbhiye said.

Asked how his name appeared in Nayak's diary, he said; "I don't know."

When asked what he was questioned about, Gajbhiye said; "It is between me and the investigating agency."
