Odisha chit fund scam: SC grants bail to Indu Dewan

The Supreme Court of India Friday granted interim bail to Indu Dewan, one of the directors of Mumbai-based company Prism Heights Films & Entertainment Private Limited, who was arrested for her alleged links with Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, a major player in the chit fund scam in Odisha.

The apex allowed Indu, sister of Mumbai model Preeti Bhatia to go on bail against a deposit of Rs 82.30 lakh.

The Supreme Court has asked Indu to deposit the amount with the Court’s registry.

Currently, Indu is lodged in the Jharpada Special Jail.

The CBI investigating the chit fund scam on Supreme Court directions had found that about Rs 20 crore was transferred from AT Group chief Pradeep Sethy’s account to Preeti’s firm Prism Heights Films & Entertainment Private Limited which was into the making of films and tele-serials in Mumbai.

After repeated interrogation on this account, Preeti was arrested by the CBI on October 11, 2014.

Later, CBI found out that Rs 3.56 crore was transferred to Indu’s account from Preeti’s account. Following marathon quizzing, the CBI arrested Indu on October 17, 2015.

The apex court allowed Preeti to go on bail in November 2015 against a deposit of Rs 1.70 crore.
