Odisha: Civil Supply Officer held as Rs 2.34 lakh seized from office chamber

Balasore: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested Mir Raja Ali, Chief Civil Supply Officer-cum-District Manager, Paddy Procurement, Balasore over alleged collection of huge amount of cash as illegal gratification from different sources. He was produced before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance here and remanded to judicial custody till November 2.

According to official sources, sleuths of the anti-corruption agency, acting on a reliable information regarding the offence, intercepted Ali in front of the main gate of his office yesterday while he was heading towards his rented house in his vehicle.

An amount of Rs 2,34,900 was found from the table drawer of his office chamber, which he could not account for satisfactorily.

A case has been registered by the Vigilance against Ali in this connection and further investigation was underway.
