Kamakhyanagar: In a shameful incident, a Class 6 student of a government school suffered grievous injuries after being beaten up by a female teacher in Kamakhyanagar in Odisha's Dhenkanal district here today. The boy was identified as Ganapati Mahanta of Kankadahada Upper Primary School. He was admitted to Kamakhyanagar hospital in a critical state.
As per reports, the accused teacher punched Ganapati on his chest when the school prayer was ongoing. Under the impact of the blow, he collapsed. School authorities immediately rushed him to the local hospital but as his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Kamakhyanagar hospital for treatment.
"I dropped my son in the school prayer class and left. barely fifteen minutes later, school authorities called me and informed that my child is unwell and asked me to take him back home. On reaching, my son was weeping and in an extremely traumatised state. I was told that he had been hit hard in the chest by one of the teachers. We rushed him to the hospital but right now, I am unable to process what led to such an incident," Ganapati's mother shared.
Hospital authorities confirmed that the child has suffered a blow in the chest after the latter shared the ordeal. While an official declined to comment further on the incident, he informed that the incident is being probed. Meanwhile, block education officer (BEO) Sagar Tudu said the child is stable and has been sent home. Investigation is underway, he added.
