Odisha: Class-III boy drowns to death in nullah near school while washing hands

Bhubaneswar: A Class-III student reportedly drowned in a nullah near his school in Nuapada district of Odisha today.

The deceased has been identified as Rocky Jagat (8), son of Rudramadhab Jagat, of Budhapara village under Boden police station.

Rocky was a student of Budhapara Government Upper Primary School.

The incident took place when Rocky along with a few other students went to the nullah for ablution purposes soon after they were served the midday meal (MDM) at the school in the afternoon.

Rocky drowned in the nullah after he slipped his feet. He was declared dead by the doctors at a hospital in Khariar, sources said.

The deceased student’s family members, meanwhile, blamed the teachers of the school for the incident.

On being informed, Boden police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.

The villagers staged a dharna in front of the school seeking adequate compensation for the deceased’s family and stern action against the teachers.
