Odisha: Class-X boy dies by suicide after being scolded for stealing Rs 60 from dad’s pocket

Bhubaneswar: A Class-X boy of Jagatsinghpur district in Odisha reportedly died by suicide after he was scolded by his father for stealing Rs 60 from the latter’s pocket a few days ago.

The incident took place at Galupada under Jagatsinghpur Sadar police limits yesterday.

The 15-year-old boy was the only child of his parents, who work as teachers in government schools.

The boy’s parents had left their ancestral house at Mulagaon under Balikuda block and moved to Jagatsinghpur district headquarters town to ensure better education for him, sources said.

The boy had reportedly stolen Rs 60 from his father’s pocket a few days ago. Subsequently, he was scolded by his father, sources added.

“The boy did not go to school by citing some reasons yesterday. He hanged himself from the ceiling of their rented house at Galupada with the help of a cotton towel while his parents were away in their places of work,” said a local.

The boy reportedly left a suicide note before ending his life. “No one is responsible for my death. I am taking this extreme step at my own will. I have left the unspent money in our house,” read the suicide note.
