Odisha clerk suspended for sexually harassing woman teacher

Rayagada: Taking disciplinary action against an education department official, who is arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman teacher in Rayagada, authorities today suspended him for offence.

Satya Narayan Bisoyi, Sr. Clerk, of Office of the Block Education Officer, Chandrapur in Rayagada district was placed under suspension by the District Education Officer (DEO).

“The Headquarters of Satya Narayan Bisoyi of BEO, Chandrapur under suspension is fixed at Block Education Office, Rayagada until further orders. The subsistence allowance at 50% for a period of six months or till reinstatement which is earlier is here by sanctioned under rule – 90 of O.S.C.” read the official order.

The official was arrested on Sept 1 on charges of forcing a woman teacher to have physical relation with him and harassing her over telephone.

A day after his arrest, he was produced before the SDJM Court, Rayagada, on Sept 2.
