The incident has triggered public outrage over the incident. Several women activists, locals and eunuchs yesterday staged a road blockade and gheraoed the Jatni police station yesterday.

The Odisha unit of BJP is scheduled to take out demonstrations across the state from today against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and rising cases of atrocities against women.

“The BJP will conduct a state-wide stir against the Naveen Patnaik government from today. The women are not safe in this state anymore. At least three women are being raped or attacked in a day. The incidents like Itishri, Bebina and now the Jatani rape signifies the failing law and order situation in the state,” Odisha BJP state president Basant Panda said.
