Odisha CM announces relief package for Cyclone ‘FANI’-battered Puri

Puri: Chief Minister Naveen reviewed relief and restoration works in the cyclone-affected district in the presence of Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi, Puri Collector Balwant Singh and Puri SP Uma Shankar Dash at the Circuit House, here today.

The Chief Minister declared that each cyclone-hit family will get 2.5 litres of kerosene free of cost every 10 days till power supply has been restored and 10 lakh candles will also be distributed in the cyclone-ravaged areas of the holy town.

He also added that every cyclone hit family be given 50 kg rice including those without ration cards and free sanitary pads will be made available for two months.

About 10,000 personnel have been engaged in the restoration work in Puri district and electricity will be provided as soon as possible. Puri Town, Nimapara and Konark NACs will get power supply by tonight in a phased manner, informed the CM.

Naveen also expressed condolence for those who lost their lives during this natural disaster as Puri recorded the maximum number of human casualties in the cyclone destruction.
