Odisha CM asks officials to enforce Covid norms strictly in view of ensuing festivities, winter season

Bhubaneswar: In view of ensuing festivities and onset of winter season, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed officials to remain alert and ensure strict implantation of Covid guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.

During a weekly review meeting through video conference on corona the Chief Minister asked the officials to intensify Covid awareness programme while citing instance of Kerala state.

Following the Onam festival in Kerala, there have been considerable rise in Covid cases in the State. Hence, it is necessary for the administration in Odisha not to take the situation lightly, he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction at the improvement in Covid situation and decline of positive cases in the State.

Emphasizing on economic activity, the Chief Minister stated Odisha has been the attractive destination for investors. He advised the officials to ensure the projects take off and people get the benefit of the investment. Priorities must be given to restart economic activities in industry, mining, construction, service and transport sectors, the CM said, adding any kind of hindrance in attracting investment in these areas will not be tolerated. He also asked officials to emphasize on NREGA, Mission Shakti and Jeevika Mission programmes.

Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, who was present during the meeting, informed there has been decline in infection rate in the State and burden on hospitals has lessened.

Among others, Additional Chief Secretary PK Mahapatra, DGP Abhay, 5T Secretary VK Pandian and other senior officials were present during the review meeting.
