Jharsuguda police bus mishap: Odisha CM condoles death of two cops, announces ex-gratia

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the death of two police personnel killed in a road mishap in Jharsuguda today.

Expressing grief over the death of two police personnel of the OSAP 2nd battalion, he conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families.

Patnaik announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased cops. He also announced the government job for the deceased jawans’ family members.

The CM wished a speedy recovery for other police personnel injured in the incident. He ordered free medical treatment for them.

Later, Patnaik visited the V.S.S.Medical College and Hospital in Burla hospital to meet the injured police personnel.

According to reports, two police personnel and 29 others sustained critical injuries after a bus carrying OSAP 2nd battalion jawans collided head-on with a speeding truck near a petrol pump on NH-49 in Belpahar of Jharsuguda district in the morning.

The deceased OSAP jawans were identified as Prashant Behera and Shankar Prasad Pant.

The cops were on their way to Banharpalli for deployment ahead of the CM’s programme scheduled today.
