Odisha CM condoles demise of Jaswant Singh

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today expressed grief over the demise of former Defence Minister Jaswant Singh.

“Deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of veteran leader, former Union minister Jaswant Singh ji. His contribution to Indian polity was substantial. My prayers are with his family and friends,” tweeted Patnaik.

Singh breathed his last today at the R&R Hospital in New Delhi. He was 82.

“Major Jaswant Singh (Retd), former Cabinet Minister, passed away at 6.55 a.m. today. He was admitted on 25 June and was being treated for Sepsis with Multiorgan Dysfunction Syndrome. He had a cardiac arrest this morning. His Covid status is negative” said the statement of the hospital.

The former Union Minister was a close aide of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee he had handled important portfolios during the late PM’s tenure and was a powerful leader of his time.
