During the telephonic conversation, Patnaik expressed concerned over the distressed condition of Jagamohana where multiple cracks have surfaced during de-plastering of the structures inside the prayer hall.

According to sources in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the prime minister has assured the Odisha chief minister of all help and direct the ASI to undertake the repair work inside the world famous 12th century shrine.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Naveeen Patnaik had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi three days ago urging his personal intervention into the matter.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan yesterday had presided over a meeting in New Delhi attended by Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma, ASI DG Rajesh Tiwari, Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray and other officials to discuss the Jagamohana issue.

An expert team of ASI headed by Tourism and Culture Secretary is scheduled to visit Jagannath temple in 8-10 days for a detailed review.
