Odisha CM directs officials to introduce e-muster roll for labourers from Oct 2

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to ensure transparency in governance and prevent manipulation, the Odisha government today decided to introduce e-muster roll for labourers in all works of line departments.

Also, wages will be directly transferred to bank accounts of labourers in all the works that are being executed by line departments.

The move will ensure stricter monitoring of minimum wages and timely deposit of ESI and EPF dues, said a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.

During a review meeting through video conference Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed Works, Water Resources, Panchayati Raj and Drinking water, Rural development and Housing and Urban Development Departments to implement the initiative for projects worth more than Rs 10 crore in the first phase from October 2.

The Chief Minister also directed all Departments to have the system in place by January 1, 2021 for universal implementation of e-muster roll. The Works Department will be the nodal department in this important initiative under the 5T charter of CM.

He also emphasised on use of robust technology in implementing this initiative along with enabling legal framework.

The State level training and capacity building programme of staff and Human Resource capacity building will be ensured, the statement added.

Among others, the Chief Secretary, the Development Commissioner, 5T Secretary and Secretaries of different departments were present at the review meeting.
