Odisha CM hails India’s maiden Test series win in Australia

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hailed the Indian cricket team for their first-ever Test series win in Australia today.

The CM termed Team India’s victory as “spectacular”.

“Congratulate Team India for the spectacular maiden Test series victory on Australian soil. All round team performance helped team India win the Cricket test series down under,” Naveen said in a tweet this evening.

State Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma also congratulated the Virat Kohli-led boys for their historic victory.

Earlier in the day, President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Team India for the historic Test series win on Australian soil.

Worth mentioning, it is India’s first-ever Test series win Australia since the bilateral contest began in 1948 when Lala Amarnath’s team clashed with Don Bradman’s mighty team Down Under.

After the visiting team won the Adelaide and Melbourne Tests, the fourth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) ended in a draw as no play was possible on the last day due to continuous downpour. India clinched the series 2-1.
