Odisha CM hikes grant to police welfare fund to Rs 1 crore

Bhubaneswar, Jun 3:

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced to enhance the grant to welfare fund of police personnel from Rs 10 lakh to Rs One crore and praised their service to safeguard the life and property of people at the grassroots level in the state, on the sidelines of annual conference of Odisha Police Havildar, Constable and Sepoys’ Confederation here.

“Havildar, Constable and Sepoys are the pillars of police force. They function at the cutting edge of the police and civil society engagement. Their performance and conduct define the relationship between people and the police organization. In fact, it would be apt to state that the attitude of police towards the administration is being shaped by the activities of these personnel at the grassroots level,” he said while addressing the gathering.

Without maintenance of proper law and order, neither the people’s well being nor development can take place. Therefore, all of you have an onerous responsibility which has to be discharged with sincerity and humane attitude, he added.

As you all know, my government accords highest priority to safety and security of women, senior citizen and weaker sections of society. Therefore, all the schemes of the government in this regard are to be implemented by the police with utmost diligence, he advised the police personnel.

I am listening to your demands. The state government has always been sympathetic to your demands and we will take a considerate view on this. “Right now, I am glad to announce enhancement of grant to the welfare fund of police personnel from Rs 10 lakh to Rs One crore”.  I hope you will continue to maintain high standards in delivery of public service, he concluded.
