Bhubaneswar: BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today held a roadshow in the capital city here seeking people’s support for the ruling party in the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha.

The Chief Minister highlighted the free electricity promise made by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in its manifesto while urging people to vote for party’s Lok Sabha and Assembly nominees in the twin polls.

“There will be no electricity bill from July this year. You all should bless BJD Lok Sabha and Assembly nominees in the polls,” the Chief Minister urged the people during the road show.

Patnaik rode a customized bus during the road show, that began from Ganganagar Square in the evening. He waved at people congregated on both sides of the road during the event.

“I am always delighted to be with the people of Odisha,” said the Chief Minister in a video message prior to the road show.

BJD leader and 5T chairman VK Pandian, who accompanied the Chief Minister, said the BJD government will extend the coverage of BSKY health scheme to all sections of people, if it is voted to power for the sixth consecutive term.

He also highlighted the BJD’s poll promise to provide pensions to the members of Mission Shakti women self-help groups (SHGs) in Odisha.

The roadshow concluded at Sishu Bhawan Square after passing through LIC Office Square, Gopabandhu Square, OUAT Guest House, Unit-8 DAV School Square, HDFC Bank Square, Balunkeswar Temple Square, Mamtaj Ali School, Srikrishna Club, Behera Sahi Square, Nicco Park Square, Bayababa Mutt, Rupali Square, Ram Mandir Square and Master Canteen Square in the city.

Earlier in the day, BJP national president JP Nadda held a roadshow in the Old Town area of the city to canvass for the party.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had held a roadshow on a stretch of the Janpath from Ram Mandir Square to Vani Vihar Square in the city here while seeking support for the BJP in the twin polls on May 10.
