Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 21 new bus stands in 13 districts and laid the foundation stone for 124 more in 26 districts of Odisha today, under the ambitious ‘Ama Bus Stand Yojana’.
After completion, the projects will benefit around two crore people in the State. This was termed by the CM as a milestone achievement in the field of transportation. These are smart and ultramodern bus stands with amenities for use by passengers, drivers, and staff of the government buses.
The CM also launched a mobile app named ‘Mo Parivahan Seva’, on this occasion. People would not have to visit government offices anymore to avail the transportation services.
Besides, CM launched ‘Su-Vahak Yojana’ which is meant to enhance the efficiency of drivers. Under the new scheme, at least 50,000 drivers will be imparted training. A driving training centre was inaugurated at Palur locality of Ganjam district, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) informed.
The CM advised everybody to give utmost importance to passengers, commuters, and roads. An ideal transportation system acts as a catalyst to a developed economy, he opined.
