Odisha CM inaugurates model vending zone in capital city

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated a model vending zone for women at Dumuduma in the capital city here.

The newly-inaugurated vending zone has 41 shops and all necessary facilities like proper lighting, drinking water, toilet, seating facility and parking area, sources said.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has constructed the vending zone. Among others, Urban Development Minister Usha Devi, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Ashok Panda, Mayor Sulochana Das, corporators of the city and officials of BMC, ORMAS and Mission Shakti were present at the event.

Of the total 41 shops at the model vending zone, 30 shops have been allotted to women self-help groups (SHGs), three to Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) and one to the members of a Divyang SHG. The remaining shops will be soon allotted to eligible parties, said an official of the BMC.
